“Writing and Expressing Social Responsibility”, payam ishani

Undoubtedly, writing is the most important invention of mankind and its power in changing the world can not be undermined. Writing is a unique way of expressing ideas and beliefs because it can show who we are, sometimes even more than we realize. Using this powerful tool in expressing social responsibilities can have unbelievable effects on our local community and the world; examples of such effects are numerous, even in the short history of America.
Martin Luther King can be the best example, for he chose to write about what he had in his heart. Some of his writings such as the letter from Birmingham Jail are examples of how social responsibilities can be expressed through writing in a beautiful way. But what made him brilliant was not solely his writings but his actions. I believe that Social responsibility is more than just what we think about an issue, it is about what we do to take care of it. There are many writings about various local and global issues but most readers simply agree or disagree with them without accepting any kind of responsibility, not even a simple action to help remedy the situation.
I do not, however, believe that social responsibilities are limited to individuals and their actions; every single organization, corporation, and ultimately the government has the responsibility to act accordingly when it comes to social responsibilities. Only through good understanding and teamwork we can find the necessary courage and power to act toward our social responsibilities.
sincerely,
